1800 Acres by David Myers
Running away from Brooklyn to make a new start with her teenage son Linda, an affluent African-American woman buys a ranch in West Texas. But when the original owner refuses to move out, violent physical and psychological battles ensue. Demanding his own relationship to the land, Linda's son Jacob begins a mysterious ritual in the moonlight.
Acclaimed young Texan playwright David Myers blends comedy, fantasy and tension in this original play that explores the relationship between family, history, birthright and the mystical pull of nature.
1800 Acres was developed with the Old Vic New Voices. Myers was handpicked to mentor with Edward Albee. Please Note: This performance contains nudity.
