Celebrating Diversity 2008: Westminster
Food fest:
Come and try traditional dishes from a range of countries � aim is for people to try different dishes from around the world. Attended also by Yasus Afari and Julie Issac, who will be reading their poetry.
Project Windrush:
An exhibition outlining some of the experiences from those who have lived or worked in Westminster over the last 60 years. Carried out by pupils from Westminster schools the exhibition uses a number of formats to reflect life in Westminster. There will also be other photos, short films and artefacts about the Empire Windrush.
Get creative:
Join in the fun with colourful face painting, costume making and badge making to be hosted by a variety of community arts organisations.
Book Fair:
In conjunction with Westminster Libraries, BIS Publications and Centerprise we will be hosting a book fair a range of books which are intriguing, informative and offering a variety of perspectives of black history and culture.

NTERNATIONAL DOLL EXHIBITION
A colourful and informative exhibition displaying intricate handmade cloth and porcelain dolls. The exhibition will be accompanied by various workshops for young people on the basic skills required for doll making. The exhibition will also reflect the diversity of dolls made today to reflect today�s changing society.

HISTORICAL BOAT TRIP
A fully narrated and enjoyable trip down the River Thames. All attendees received a goodie bag with historical information including the Black History in Westminster Booklet and Road to Abolition leaflet.

Soft Lights and Sweet Music: Photographs of Elisabeth Welch
Elisabeth Welch made her professional stage debut in Blackbirds in American in 1928 and travelled to Europe with the show in 1929, where she began her long and successful transatlantic stage and film career.

GRAND CELEBRATORY EVENT
To provide an event, celebrating Westminster�s diverse communities and promoting community cohesion with a mixture of art, exhibitions and multicultural food. To be opened by the Michael O�Connor, Director of Children Services and attended by Mark Page, Lord Mayor of Westminster, (TBC). We will be showcasing a Gospel Choir from Grey Coat School. A cr�che will be provided to enable families to attend.
