The 2009 Black History Month Indaba
OBLAC: (Our Book, Literature & Art Circle)
Dear friends, Black History is made every day and has so been for thousands of years. Black History Month is for the celebration of Black History and not its study as that would quite impossible. Black History Month 2009 is here and OBLAC a key stakeholder in black literature will have a special event in October to join in the commemorative, celebratory and reflective atmosphere.
This will be the last OBLAC event for 2009 as the days are getting colder and the daylight shorter, so come and make the most of it.
The last event hardly dented our book stock and yet we have few more recently arriving.
We have recent acquisitions focussed on Black History Month and there are titles by and on the Carter G Woodson, the father of Black History Month, including illustrated biographies of Dr Woodson for younger readers. We also have a few additional titles by the other giant of African social and political History, Professor Ali Mazrui, including the epic The African: A Triple Heritage. These are just a few of the thousands of titles on offer ranging from Africana (Black African history, politics, biographies and fiction), Business & Finance, History & Politics, World Affairs, and Gender. All at great prices!
Above all the company is always great. Other attractions include poetry recitals by Nnamdi Chukwuka, our quite philosopher and a travellers tale from Sister Abyssinia the quiet giver who has recent returned from a tour of East Africa and a Safari. Please call 07877 637 814 or on 0207 2074223 for further information or directions.
